Bitch! Dyke! Faghag! Whore! , Theater Week

Theater Week , September 26, 1994 Bitch! Dyke! Faghag! Whore! by Mark Shenton Back to Assembly for a midnight show that, I'm convinced, changes lives: Bitch! Dyke! Faghag! Whore!, presented by the American performer Susan Ventura, is an ace. Also known as Penny Arcade, she is joined by a troupe of erotic male and female dancers (some who travel with her, others who are auditioned locally) as she delivers an extended lecture on sex and sexuality. In the process, she aggressively challenges the notions of political correctness, the nature of the sex industry, and provides the ultimate recipe for human happiness, which may very well reside in Gloria Gaynor's disco anthem I Will Survive (the entire audience is invited onstage to dance to it). Later in the week I send some straight friends and their adult daughter, and they emerge as shaken and exhilarated as I was. It seems to work for everyone.
